Mary Beth Jordan is the founder and Principal at MBJ Strategies, a boutique sustainability consulting practice based near Atlanta, Georgia. She is a seasoned professional with over 20 years of experience working with organizations to make progress on their sustainability journeys. Mary Beth provides sustainability strategy, management, and communications consulting to corporate and non-profit clients. She also has served as an interim Sustainability Lead for companies. Mary Beth guides companies to see the business value of managing environmental, social, and governance (ESG) issues, and develops practical strategies and tactical approaches that leverage sustainability to reduce risks and enhance growth. She excels at client engagement, cross-functional collaboration, and project management to deliver desired outcomes. Mary Beth is a leader and influencer who leverages her expertise to find solutions for clients.
Prior to launching her consulting practice in 2016, she was a consultant with Homrich Partners for four years where she led client engagements across the apparel, auto and communications sectors. Her work included creating frameworks for strategy development and project design and implementation, and assessing sustainability risks and opportunities across the value chain.
Prior to joining Homrich Partners, Mary Beth was Mirant’s Manager of Corporate Citizenship where she shaped the company’s environmental strategies, policies and programs. She also led the production of Mirant's annual Global Corporate Citizenship report and managed the company’s corporate community outreach activities.
Mary Beth began her career in Washington, D.C., where she covered environmental policy issues for the textile industry’s trade association. Later she served as the program director for the Global Environmental Management Initiative (GEMI), a global nonprofit leader in creating sustainability solutions for business.
Mary Beth holds a Bachelor of Science in Biology and Minor in Environment and Human Values from Trinity College in Hartford, CT. She serves on the Trinity College Board of Fellows and chaired the Board of Trustees of The Nature Conservancy in Georgia.
